How the rd calculator works

Each monthly instalment grows at the quarterly-compounded rate for the months it stays invested: A = Σ R × (1 + r/4)4 × m/12.

How to use it

  1. Move the sliders or type exact figures — results update as you go.
  2. Read the highlighted result first, then the breakdown and chart.
  3. Open the year-by-year table to plan ahead, or copy the result into your notes.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I miss an RD instalment?

Banks usually charge a small penalty and may close the RD after several missed instalments. Check your bank's rules.

RD or SIP — which is better?

An RD gives a fixed, guaranteed return. A SIP in mutual funds can earn more over long periods but returns are not guaranteed.

Results are estimates for planning, not financial, tax or investment advice. Rates and rules change — confirm with your bank, the scheme's official notice or a CA. Last reviewed 13 October 2026.
