EDF for Jammu & Kashmir Bank: how to fill and submit it
If your foreign earnings arrive in a Jammu & Kashmir Bank account, J&K Bank is the AD bank that should receive your monthly EDF. Ask the bank which branch handles export transactions for your account, note its AD code, and submit one EDF per month — within 30 days of month end — through whatever channel J&K Bank's published EDF policy specifies.
Key takeaways
- The AD bank is normally the bank where your foreign payments are credited; for many exporters in J&K and Ladakh that is J&K Bank.
- Get the AD code for the branch that processes your exports — it's printed nowhere on your cheque book.
- File within 30 days from the end of the invoice month; services other than software may file on or before the payment date instead.
- Ask the bank about the submission channel and acknowledgement — every bank sets its own EDF policy.
- Proprietors, firms, LLPs and companies should assume the EDF applies; individuals should check with the bank until RBI's FAQs are out.
Who files with J&K Bank
The bank's customers include many businesses in Jammu, Srinagar and other towns that have quietly built foreign revenue: software and web developers, design studios, translators, content teams, and tour operators who bill overseas travel agents. All of them now fall under the FEMA (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026, which came into force on 1 October 2026.
The rule is the same wherever you are in India. Services exporters outside an SEZ give the EDF to their AD bank; software exporters may use the AD bank or STPI. If J&K Bank credits your export receipts, it's your AD bank.
A note on individuals. At RBI's policy press conference on 7 October 2026, the Governor said individuals providing services abroad are not required to report, and RBI said FAQs would follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet. If you invoice in your personal name, ask J&K Bank how it is treating your receipts until the FAQs are published. If you operate as a proprietorship, firm, LLP or company, plan to file.
Before your first EDF: three things to collect
| Item | Where to get it | Why you need it |
|---|---|---|
| AD code | Your J&K Bank branch or relationship manager | Field 1.6 of the EDF |
| Branch name and address for exports | Same | Field 1.10 — should match the AD code |
| Submission channel and document list | Same, or the bank's published EDF policy | So the form is accepted first time |
If the branch prefers a written request, use our AD code request letter and add a line asking how EDFs should be submitted. Our glossary entry on the AD code explains how it differs from IFSC and SWIFT codes.
Filling the form: what's different for small exporters
Most J&K Bank export customers are small teams, and the EDF can look intimidating at first glance. In practice, a services exporter fills about two-thirds of Part 1, leaves Part 2A and Part 3 blank, lists invoices in Part 2B and signs Part 4.
A few fields where small exporters often go wrong:
- 1.4 Mode of delivery. If you deliver work online, choose Internet. A tour operator whose foreign guests visit India still isn't shipping anything — ask the bank whether it prefers Internet or Others for in-person services.
- 1.7 IE code. Fill it if you have an IEC from DGFT. If you don't, ask the bank how to treat the field.
- 1.12 Mode of realisation. Usually "Others" for bank transfers and advances.
- Part 2B NRV. Net realisable value is what you expect to actually realise after any deductions agreed in the contract. Keep it realistic.
Our J&K Bank EDF form has the bank name pre-filled and walks through each field in order.
Worked example: a Srinagar design studio
Chinar Pixel Works, a partnership firm, designs packaging and brand identities for clients in the UK and Canada. In October 2026 it raised two invoices:
| Invoice | Client | Amount | Approx. INR | SAC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CPW/017 | Manchester retailer | GBP 2,400 | ₹2,64,000 | 998393 (confirm with CA) |
| CPW/018 | Toronto café chain | CAD 3,100 | ₹1,89,000 | 998393 (confirm with CA) |
The firm prepares one EDF dated 12 November 2026 with two Part 2B rows and a total of ₹4,53,000, signed by a partner. It submits through the channel the branch confirmed, keeping a copy and the acknowledgement. The due date was 30 November.
Both invoices are under ₹10 lakh. When payment arrives, the bank may close the EDPMS entries on the firm's declaration of realisation rather than invoice-by-invoice evidence — the firm plans to send one declaration each quarter using our realisation declaration tool.
After submission: FIRA and matching
J&K Bank must enter your EDF into EDPMS within 5 working days of receiving it. From then on, each invoice sits as an open entry until realised.
When foreign money arrives, ask the branch for the FIRA or credit advice. Check four things on it: your account name, the amount and currency, the remitter's name, and the purpose code. If the purpose code doesn't describe your service — for example, a design fee coded as something unrelated — ask the bank to correct it early; the purpose code correction letter is a ready format.
Then reconcile: invoice in Part 2B, FIRA in hand, entry closed. Services must be realised within 9 months from the invoice date; if a client is slow, the bank can extend the period on a reasoned request.
This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Follow J&K Bank's published EDF policy and your branch's instructions where they differ from anything general.
Frequently asked questions
Is J&K Bank an AD bank for export of services?
J&K Bank handles foreign-exchange business for its customers, but not every branch may process export transactions. Ask your branch which branch handles exports for your account and use that branch's AD code on the EDF.
What is the EDF due date for J&K Bank customers?
The Regulations set it: within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026, whichever bank you use.
Do individual freelancers banking with J&K Bank need to file the EDF?
RBI said on 7 October 2026 that individuals providing services abroad are not required to report, and that FAQs would follow. Until the FAQs are out, check with J&K Bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.
Can I file one EDF for several foreign clients?
Yes. One EDF per month can cover all your service exports to one or more recipients. List each invoice as a separate row in Part 2B.
What if my FIRA from J&K Bank shows the wrong purpose code?
Ask the bank to correct it promptly, in writing, quoting the remittance details and the code you believe is right. A correct purpose code makes matching and GST refunds smoother.
Bottom line
For J&K Bank customers, the EDF is a short monthly task once you have the export branch's AD code and know the submission channel. Fill it with the pre-filled J&K Bank EDF form and keep a FIRA for every payment.

"Strike out whichever is not applicable"
Part 4 offers pairs of alternatives — I/We, buyer/third party, will be received/has been received, foreign exchange/Indian Rupees. Your answers in step 5 decide which words stay; we draw the line through the rest, exactly as you would with a pen.
The layout follows the structure of RBI's Annex (Parts 1–5, fields 1.1–1.22). If your bank hands you its own printed version, use theirs. This tool is a document generator, not legal or tax advice — you remain the declarant.
EDF form FAQs
What is the EDF form?
The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).
When is the EDF due?
Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.
Can one EDF cover several clients?
Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.
Which parts does a service exporter fill?
Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.
Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?
On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.
By when must I get paid?
Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.
What is the AD code and where do I get it?
The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.
Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?
No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
