EDF for Dhanlaxmi Bank: how to fill and submit it
Design studios, IT shops and consultancies that receive foreign payments into a Dhanlaxmi Bank current account file their monthly Export Declaration Form with Dhanlaxmi Bank, because it is the AD bank where the money lands. If you run a proprietorship, partnership, LLP or company, assume the EDF applies to you from 1 October 2026; only individuals working under personal contracts have been told by RBI that they need not report, and even that awaits formal FAQs. The form is the standard RBI Annex, and Dhanlaxmi Bank sets its own channel for accepting it.
Key takeaways
- Dhanlaxmi Bank, a Kerala-based private sector bank, is your AD bank when your export receipts are credited to your account there.
- Businesses of every size should plan to file; individual freelancers should check with the bank until RBI's FAQs are out.
- Your IFSC (starting with DLXB) is not the AD code. Ask the branch for the AD code for field 1.6.
- Small invoices up to ₹10 lakh can usually be closed through a periodic realisation declaration.
- The EDF sits alongside your GST obligations; it does not replace or change them.
Do you need to file at all?
This is the question small exporters ask first, and the honest answer has a grey area. Here is how the position stands as of mid-October 2026.
| Who you are | Does the EDF apply? | What to do now |
|---|---|---|
| Individual freelancer on personal contracts | RBI said on 7 October 2026 that such individuals are not required to report; FAQs are awaited and the regulation text has not changed | Ask Dhanlaxmi Bank how it will treat your receipts until the FAQs are issued |
| Sole proprietorship | Assume yes | File one EDF a month |
| Partnership firm or LLP | Assume yes | File one EDF a month |
| Private limited company | Assume yes | File one EDF a month |
| Unit in an SEZ | Yes, but to a different authority | File with the SEZ Development Commissioner, not the bank |
If you invoice under a trade name, have a GSTIN and a current account, you are running a business, and the safer course is to file. Invoices raised before 1 October 2026 are widely reported to fall outside the EDF; confirm that with the bank if you have older invoices still unpaid.
Finding the AD code
Field 1.6 needs the AD code, which identifies the bank branch for export transactions. The IFSC printed on your cheque book starts with DLXB and is used for domestic transfers, so it is the wrong code. The SWIFT code you give foreign clients is also different.
Ask the branch that holds your current account for the AD code, and ask whether export transactions for your account are handled at that branch or elsewhere. Keep the answer written down. Our glossary entry on the AD code explains how it differs from the other codes on your bank paperwork.
Confirming how Dhanlaxmi Bank accepts the form
The 2026 export regulations require every AD bank to publish its policy for accepting EDFs (Regulation 19). That policy decides whether you visit the branch, send an email or upload the form online. We do not guess at Dhanlaxmi Bank's specific channel, email addresses or timelines.
Instead, ask your branch three practical things: which channel applies to your account, whether a signed scan is acceptable, and what you should attach. A short note of the answers in your files saves a phone call every month.
A worked example for a small studio
Kayal Pixel Works is a two-partner design firm producing user interface and graphic design for overseas startups. Its clients pay into its Dhanlaxmi Bank current account. In November 2026 it raised three invoices:
| Invoice | Date | Client country | Currency | Amount | Illustrative rate (₹) | INR value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| KPW-118 | 4 Nov 2026 | United Arab Emirates | USD | 1,900 | 84.50 | 1,60,550 |
| KPW-119 | 12 Nov 2026 | Germany | EUR | 2,250 | 91.00 | 2,04,750 |
| KPW-120 | 25 Nov 2026 | United States | USD | 4,400 | 84.50 | 3,71,800 |
The firm prepares one EDF with three Part 2B rows. Type of export at 1.1 is Services, mode of delivery at 1.4 is Internet, and mode of realisation at 1.12 is Others. The SAC in each row is 998391 (specialty design, including graphic and UI), which the firm's CA has confirmed. Field 1.22 shows ₹7,37,100 in figures and words. A partner signs Part 4.
The deadline is 30 December 2026, which is 30 days from the end of November. Because design is a service other than software, the firm could instead submit on or before the date each payment arrives. It sticks to a single month-end filing so that one person handles one form, on one date, every month.
Closing small invoices without extra paperwork
After filing, Dhanlaxmi Bank must enter the EDF into EDPMS within 5 working days. Each invoice stays open until the bank records it as realised.
All three of Kayal's invoices are below ₹10 lakh. For invoices up to that limit, the bank may close the EDPMS entry on the exporter's declaration that the money has been received. The declaration is separate from the EDF and can be given periodically, for example quarterly, covering many invoices at once. Our realisation declaration tool produces one from your invoice list.
Keep an eye on timing: each invoice must be realised within 9 months of its date. If a client is slow, ask the bank for an extension with reasons before the deadline rather than after.
The EDF and your GST invoice are separate jobs
The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. It does not change your GST or income-tax position. Export of services is a zero-rated supply under GST, provided the conditions in Section 2(6) of the IGST Act are met, such as the recipient being outside India and payment received in convertible foreign exchange (or rupees where RBI permits). Most small exporters work under an LUT and print "Supply meant for export under LUT without payment of IGST" on the invoice.
Keep the invoice numbers on your GST invoices and your EDF rows identical. When the same number appears on the invoice, the EDF and the payment advice, matching becomes simple for you, your bank and your CA. For the full field-by-field picture, see our EDF guide. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.
Frequently asked questions
I am a freelancer paid into my Dhanlaxmi Bank savings account. Do I file an EDF?
RBI said on 7 October 2026 that individuals providing services abroad under personal contracts are not required to report, and it intends to issue FAQs. The regulation text has not yet changed, so ask Dhanlaxmi Bank how it will handle your receipts in the meantime.
Where do I get the Dhanlaxmi Bank AD code?
Ask the branch that holds your current account, and request the reply in writing. It is a separate code from the IFSC and the SWIFT code, and it goes into field 1.6 of the EDF.
Can I file the EDF online with Dhanlaxmi Bank?
That depends on the policy Dhanlaxmi Bank has published under Regulation 19. Ask your branch whether it accepts EDFs online, by email or in person for your type of account.
Do invoices in two currencies need two EDFs?
No. One EDF per month can cover all your service exports to one or more recipients, and each invoice row shows its own currency. Field 1.22 carries the total in rupees.
What if a client pays only part of an invoice?
The invoice stays open in EDPMS until the full value is realised or the bank records the shortfall. Tell the bank early, keep the correspondence with your client, and ask how it wants the balance handled.
Bottom line
For a small exporter banking with Dhanlaxmi Bank, the EDF is one form a month, built from the invoices you already raise. Confirm the AD code and channel once, then let the routine run. Create your form with the free Dhanlaxmi Bank EDF generator.

Part 4 offers pairs of alternatives — I/We, buyer/third party, will be received/has been received, foreign exchange/Indian Rupees. Your answers in step 5 decide which words stay; we draw the line through the rest, exactly as you would with a pen.
The layout follows the structure of RBI's Annex (Parts 1–5, fields 1.1–1.22). If your bank hands you its own printed version, use theirs. This tool is a document generator, not legal or tax advice — you remain the declarant.
EDF form FAQs
What is the EDF form?
The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).
When is the EDF due?
Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.
Can one EDF cover several clients?
Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.
Which parts does a service exporter fill?
Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.
Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?
On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.
By when must I get paid?
Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.
What is the AD code and where do I get it?
The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.
Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?
No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
