Frequently asked questions
How is EMI calculated?
EMI uses the reducing-balance formula: each month's interest is charged on the outstanding principal, and the rest of the EMI repays principal. Early EMIs are mostly interest; later ones are mostly principal.
Does a longer tenure reduce my EMI?
Yes, but you pay more interest overall. Compare the total interest figure for different tenures before deciding.
Are personal loan rates fixed?
Most personal loans carry a fixed rate for the full tenure, but check your sanction letter. Rates depend on your income, credit score and lender.
Results are estimates for planning, not financial, tax or investment advice. Rates and rules change — confirm with your bank, the scheme's official notice or a CA. Last reviewed 13 October 2026.
