How it works

File your UCO Bank EDF in five steps

Most exporters finish in under five minutes. Next month it's faster — your business and bank details are already filled.

  1. Enter your business once

Name, address, PAN, GSTIN, IE code and exporter category. It's remembered on this device — or in your free account.

  2. Add your bank

Pick your AD bank and branch and enter the AD code (ask your branch if you don't have it).

  3. List the month's invoices

One row per invoice in Part 2B. One EDF can cover every client you billed that month.

  4. Answer the declaration

I/We, who pays, received or to be received, currency. We strike out the words that don't apply for you.

  5. Download and submit

Download the PDF or Word file, sign it and submit it to your bank within 30 days of month end.

EDF for UCO Bank: how to fill and submit it

UCO Bank customers who receive export payments into their UCO account file their monthly EDF with UCO Bank, using the same RBI form every bank accepts. Before your first filing, confirm with your branch which AD code applies to your account and how the bank accepts EDFs, because the branch you visit and the branch that handles foreign exchange are not always the same.

Key takeaways

  • If your foreign receipts land in UCO Bank, UCO Bank is your AD bank for those invoices.
  • Ask your branch whether foreign exchange for your account is handled locally or through a linked forex branch, and get the AD code of whichever handles it.
  • The bank's published EDF policy decides the channel. Ask for it rather than guessing.
  • File one EDF per month, within 30 days from the end of the invoice month.
  • Check every FIRA for the right purpose code. A wrong code is far easier to fix in the first week than in the ninth month.

Is UCO Bank your AD bank?

The AD bank for an EDF is normally the bank where the foreign money for those invoices lands. Run through these checks:

  • Your export invoices show a UCO Bank account and its SWIFT details: file with UCO Bank.
  • Some clients pay into UCO Bank and others into a different bank: file each invoice with the bank that receives it.
  • You are a software exporter: you may file with UCO Bank as your AD bank, or with STPI.
  • Your unit is inside an SEZ: file with the SEZ Development Commissioner, not the bank.

Your first month with UCO Bank, step by step

Here is how the first filing typically unfolds for invoices raised in January 2027, which are due by 2 March 2027 because February has 28 days.

When What you do Output
Early January Write to your branch asking for the AD code and the bank's EDF submission policy Written reply from branch
Through January Raise export invoices as usual, each with the UCO account details Invoices for the month
1–10 February Compile all January invoices; fill the EDF Draft EDF
By mid-February Get the form signed by the authorised signatory; prepare a covering letter Signed EDF
Well before 2 March Submit through the channel the branch confirmed Submission proof
About a week later Ask whether the EDF has been entered into EDPMS Acknowledgement/reference
As payments arrive Collect FIRA or bank advice for each remittance Realisation evidence

Our EDF due date calculator gives you the exact deadline for any invoice date.

Getting the AD code from a UCO branch

The AD code identifies the branch authorised to handle your export transactions. It is different from your IFSC and SWIFT code, and it is not printed on your cheque book.

Some banks route foreign exchange business through designated branches that serve several ordinary branches. If that applies to your account, the AD code you need is the forex branch's code, not your home branch's. A short, signed letter asking "Please confirm the AD code applicable to export transactions on our current account no. ____" usually gets a clear answer. Our AD code request letter has the wording.

Agreeing the submission channel

Every bank must publish its own policy on how it accepts EDFs. Whether UCO Bank expects you at the branch counter, by email or through an online facility is something your branch can tell you from that policy. Ask once, in writing, and keep the reply.

While you are asking, check whether the bank wants a covering letter, a company seal on the form, or copies of invoices at the time of filing. These small formalities differ between banks and are a common reason forms come back.

A worked example

Tarang Engineering Services LLP, a Kolkata firm, prepares structural drawings and calculations for building contractors abroad. Its current account is with UCO Bank. In January 2027 it raised four invoices:

Sr. Client Country Invoice date Amount
1 Al Noor Contracting Oman 6 Jan 2027 USD 3,400
2 Brenner Bau GmbH Germany 13 Jan 2027 EUR 5,200
3 Al Noor Contracting Oman 20 Jan 2027 USD 2,900
4 Kiwi Frame Ltd New Zealand 28 Jan 2027 NZD 4,000

The partners prepared one EDF for January using the UCO Bank EDF form, with four Part 2B rows and the SAC code from each invoice. Field 1.1 was Services, field 1.4 Internet, and field 1.17 referred to Part 2B since there were three destination countries.

Payment terms were 60 days, so Tarang ticked "will be received" in Part 4 and entered 28 October 2027, the 9-month deadline for its latest invoice, as the date by which full value would be received. Every invoice was under ₹10 lakh, so after payment the firm planned to give a single realisation declaration for the quarter, subject to the bank's acceptance.

Reading your FIRA from UCO Bank

Each time a client pays, ask for the FIRA, FIRC or bank advice for that remittance. Check:

  • Remitter name matches your client, or note the third party if someone else paid.
  • Amount and currency match the invoice, with any deductions visible.
  • Purpose code fits your service, for example P1009 for architectural, engineering and other technical services. Always confirm the code with the bank.
  • Date of credit, which you will want for your realisation records.

If you need a formal copy for a GST refund or audit, our FIRC request letter is a quick way to ask.

When things go wrong

Problem Likely cause What to do
EDF returned by branch AD code wrong, signatory mismatch, missing field Correct and resubmit promptly with a short note
Foreign credit held EDF for that month not yet filed File the EDF and send a remittance release request
Purpose code wrong on FIRA Remitter or bank chose a generic code Ask the bank to correct it with a written request
Unsure whether EDF was recorded No acknowledgement received Ask the branch to confirm entry into EDPMS

This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Your branch and the bank's published policy are the authority on process.

Frequently asked questions

Does UCO Bank use a different EDF format?

No. All banks receive the same form from the Annex to the FEMA Export and Import Regulations, 2026. UCO Bank may ask for a covering letter or other formalities under its own published policy, so check with your branch.

Which AD code do I use if my UCO branch does not handle forex itself?

Use the AD code of the branch that handles foreign exchange for your account. Ask your branch to confirm it in writing so your EDF is tied to the right branch in EDPMS.

Can I combine invoices to different countries on one UCO Bank EDF?

Yes. One EDF per month can cover all your service exports to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own Part 2B row with its own country, currency and amount.

What if I miss the EDF deadline with UCO Bank?

The bank may accept a delayed EDF for reasonable cause. File as soon as you can with a short letter explaining the delay. Do not wait for the next month's filing to catch up.

Do I need my FIRA before I file the EDF?

No. The EDF is due based on the invoice month, whether or not you have been paid. The FIRA comes later and is used to close the EDPMS entry once the money arrives.

Bottom line

With UCO Bank, the details that trip people up are the AD code and the channel, and both are solved by one written question to your branch. Then prepare the form with our free UCO Bank EDF form, file it early in the month, and keep each FIRA beside the matching invoice.

Questions

EDF form FAQs

What is the EDF form?

The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).

When is the EDF due?

Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.

Can one EDF cover several clients?

Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.

Which parts does a service exporter fill?

Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.

Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?

On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.

By when must I get paid?

Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.

What is the AD code and where do I get it?

The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.

Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?

No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
