File your Bank of Maharashtra EDF in five steps

Most exporters finish in under five minutes. Next month it's faster — your business and bank details are already filled.

  1. Enter your business once

Name, address, PAN, GSTIN, IE code and exporter category. It's remembered on this device — or in your free account.

  2. Add your bank

Pick your AD bank and branch and enter the AD code (ask your branch if you don't have it).

  3. List the month's invoices

One row per invoice in Part 2B. One EDF can cover every client you billed that month.

  4. Answer the declaration

I/We, who pays, received or to be received, currency. We strike out the words that don't apply for you.

  5. Download and submit

Download the PDF or Word file, sign it and submit it to your bank within 30 days of month end.

EDF for Bank of Maharashtra: how to fill and submit it

Service exporters who receive foreign payments into a Bank of Maharashtra account submit their monthly EDF to Bank of Maharashtra as their AD bank. Before your first filing, find out which branch handles export transactions for your account and get its AD code; after that, it's one form a month covering every foreign invoice, filed within 30 days of month end through the channel the bank tells you to use.

Key takeaways

  • Bank of Maharashtra is your AD bank for the EDF if your export proceeds land there.
  • Your home branch may not be the branch that processes foreign exchange — ask which one handles your export business.
  • The AD code identifies that branch; it is not the IFSC.
  • Use one EDF per month for all invoices; each invoice is one row in Part 2B.
  • Ask the branch how it wants the EDF submitted and whether it issues an acknowledgement.

Who this guide is for

Bank of Maharashtra is a public sector bank with a large branch network in Maharashtra and beyond. Its export customers include engineering-design firms, IT services companies, consultants and small agencies — many of them in Pune, Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad and Nagpur — that opened a current account years ago and now invoice foreign clients.

If that sounds like you, the 2026 rules mean a new monthly task. From 1 October 2026, the FEMA (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026 require a single EDF for service exports, including software (SOFTEX is gone). Outside an SEZ, it goes to your AD bank.

The branch question comes first

With many public sector banks, foreign-exchange work is often handled by designated branches rather than every branch. Your current account might sit at a neighbourhood branch while export documents are processed elsewhere. We can't tell you which Bank of Maharashtra branch serves your account — only the bank can.

So begin with a visit or a letter to your home branch asking:

  1. Which branch handles export transactions and EDF submissions for my account?
  2. What is the AD code of that branch?
  3. How should the EDF be submitted — in person, by email, or through any online facility?
  4. Which documents should accompany it?
  5. Will I receive an acknowledgement, and how?

If you prefer a written request, the AD code request letter can be adapted to ask all five questions at once. Keep the bank's reply on file; it's your reference for every future EDF.

Filling the EDF for Bank of Maharashtra

Our Bank of Maharashtra EDF form pre-fills the bank name. Here are the fields where Bank of Maharashtra customers most often need to stop and check:

Field Tip
1.6 AD code Use the code of the branch that handles your exports, which may differ from your account branch
1.10 AD bank name and address Enter that same branch's address so the two fields agree
1.5 Category of exporter Ask the branch whether it prefers "Others" or "Custom DTA units" for a non-SEZ services firm
1.12 Mode of realisation "Others" for advance or direct transfers; L/C or BG only if you actually use one
1.22 Total value in INR Figures and words; the amount in words converter avoids lakh/crore slips
Part 2B One row per invoice: recipient, country, invoice number and date, currency, amount, NRV, description, SAC

Part 4, the declaration, needs strike-outs (I/We, buyer/third party, will be received/has been received and so on) and a signature by an authorised person.

Worked example: a Pune engineering firm

Deshmukh Design Engineers LLP banks with Bank of Maharashtra and does CAD and structural detailing for clients in Germany and the UAE. Its November 2026 invoices:

Invoice Client Currency Amount Approx. INR
DDE/26-27/088 Stuttgart client EUR 7,500 ₹6,75,000
DDE/26-27/091 Dubai client AED 22,000 ₹5,02,000
DDE/26-27/094 Stuttgart client EUR 3,200 ₹2,88,000

The LLP prepares one EDF with three Part 2B rows, total ₹14,65,000, the engineering-services SAC code its CA has confirmed on each row, and signs it through a designated partner. The deadline is 30 December 2026. It submits on 15 December to the branch the bank named for export work, with a cover letter and invoice copies.

When the Stuttgart client pays both invoices in a single remittance in January, the LLP sends the branch a short note: "EUR 10,700 received on 12 January 2027 relates to invoices DDE/26-27/088 and 094." That note is what lets the bank match and close two EDPMS entries in one go.

After you submit

The bank must enter the EDF into EDPMS within 5 working days. Each entry stays open until the export value is realised and matched.

  • Collect FIRAs. For every receipt, ask for the FIRA or credit advice and check the purpose code, amount, currency and remitter.
  • Use the ₹10 lakh declaration. For invoices up to ₹10 lakh, the bank may close entries on your periodic declaration that the money has been realised. Our realisation declaration tool prepares one covering many invoices.
  • Watch the 9-month window. Services must be realised within 9 months from the invoice date (12 months for INR invoices). If a client is slow, the bank can extend on a reasoned request.

A monthly routine that works with a branch-led bank

Week Task
Last week of the month Finish invoicing; send invoices to clients
Week 1 of next month Prepare the EDF; get the authorised signatory's signature
Week 2 Submit at the export branch (or by the agreed channel); collect acknowledgement
Ongoing Send matching notes as payments arrive; file FIRAs in a folder per month
Each quarter Request a list of open export entries; reconcile with your EDF register

Branch-led processes reward predictability. If the same person submits the same format each month, staff at the branch soon know what to expect.

This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Bank of Maharashtra's published EDF policy and branch instructions take precedence.

Frequently asked questions

Does every Bank of Maharashtra branch accept EDFs?

Not necessarily. Foreign-exchange work may be handled by designated branches. Ask your home branch which branch processes export transactions for your account and use that branch's AD code on the EDF.

What is the AD code for Bank of Maharashtra?

There isn't one code for the whole bank. The AD code identifies the specific branch that handles export transactions. Ask the bank for the code that applies to your account.

When is the EDF due if I bank with Bank of Maharashtra?

Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised — for example, October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. The deadline is set by the Regulations, not by the bank.

Can I submit one EDF for clients in different countries?

Yes. One EDF can cover all service exports of a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice is a separate row in Part 2B, with the recipient's country in its own column.

What should I do if the branch returns my EDF?

Ask for the reason in writing, correct the specific field, and resubmit promptly. Common reasons are a wrong AD code, a missing signature or a mismatch between Part 2B and the invoice copies.

Bottom line

With Bank of Maharashtra, settle the branch and AD code question once, then file the same clean EDF every month. The pre-filled Bank of Maharashtra EDF form handles the layout so you can focus on getting the invoices right.

The layout follows the structure of RBI's Annex (Parts 1–5, fields 1.1–1.22). If your bank hands you its own printed version, use theirs. This tool is a document generator, not legal or tax advice — you remain the declarant.

Questions

EDF form FAQs

What is the EDF form?

The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).

When is the EDF due?

Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.

Can one EDF cover several clients?

Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.

Which parts does a service exporter fill?

Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.

Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?

On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.

By when must I get paid?

Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.

What is the AD code and where do I get it?

The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.

Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?

No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
