EDF for Mizuho Bank (India): how to fill and submit it
Companies whose export receipts are credited to an account with Mizuho Bank in India file their monthly Export Declaration Form with Mizuho, their AD bank. Part 1 of the form takes about ten minutes once you know which of its 22 fields apply to services; most goods-related fields simply read "N/A". The rest of the work is listing the month's invoices in Part 2B and filing within 30 days from the end of the month, through the channel Mizuho confirms for your account.
Key takeaways
- Mizuho Bank in India is your AD bank for exports whose proceeds land in your account there.
- The AD code at field 1.6 comes from your relationship manager; it is not the IFSC (starting with MHCB) or the SWIFT code.
- Several Part 1 fields are for goods only and are marked not applicable for services.
- Part 4 must be signed by someone the bank recognises as authorised for your company.
- After filing, invoices above ₹10 lakh need payment evidence and matching instructions to close.
Mizuho as your AD bank
Mizuho Bank is a Japanese bank operating in India with a corporate focus. Service exporters who bank there are usually companies: Indian subsidiaries of Japanese groups, consulting and technology firms with Japanese clients, and capability centres serving group companies.
The AD bank is the bank where your export proceeds are credited. Confirm this before you fill field 1.10, especially if your company also holds accounts with Indian banks. Then ask your relationship manager two things: the AD code for the India branch servicing your account, and how Mizuho accepts EDFs under the policy it publishes under Regulation 19. We do not describe the bank's channels or timelines; the RM's reply is your reference.
Part 1, field by field, for a Mizuho client
Tsubame Process Consulting India Pvt Ltd advises Japanese manufacturers on operations and management systems. It banks with Mizuho in India. Here is how it fills Part 1 for its December 2026 EDF.
| Field | What it asks | Tsubame's entry |
|---|---|---|
| 1.1 | Type of export | Services |
| 1.2 | Form number | Left blank, for the bank to allot if required |
| 1.3 | Shipping bill | N/A |
| 1.4 | Mode of transport / delivery | Internet |
| 1.5 | Category of exporter | Others (not an SEZ or EOU unit) |
| 1.6 | AD code | The code confirmed by its Mizuho RM |
| 1.7 | IE code | Its DGFT-issued IEC |
| 1.8 / 1.9 | GSTIN / PAN | As registered |
| 1.10 | AD bank name and address | Mizuho Bank, with the address of the servicing branch |
| 1.11 | Exporter name and address | Registered office address |
| 1.12 | Mode of realisation | Others (direct transfer) |
| 1.14 / 1.18 / 1.20 | Port of loading, port of discharge, LEO date | N/A |
| 1.17 | Country of final destination | Japan |
| 1.21 | Description of services | Business and management consultancy |
| 1.22 | Total value in INR | ₹45,36,000, in figures and words |
The recipient (1.13) and third-party fields (1.15 and 1.16) depend on who receives and pays for the service. Tsubame's clients pay their own invoices, so the third-party fields do not apply. Our AD code glossary entry explains the code for field 1.6 in more detail.
Part 2B: the invoice rows
Tsubame raised three invoices in December 2026, all in Japanese yen:
- TPC-1231, 7 December: JPY 3,600,000 to a precision parts maker
- TPC-1236, 15 December: JPY 2,700,000 to an industrial equipment company
- TPC-1240, 22 December: JPY 1,800,000 to the first client, for a follow-up workshop
At an illustrative ₹0.56 per JPY, the values are ₹20,16,000, ₹15,12,000 and ₹10,08,000, which is where the ₹45,36,000 in field 1.22 comes from. Each row shows SAC 998311 (management consulting), the contract number and date, and the amount and net realisable value in JPY. The description on each row matches the invoice wording, so anyone comparing documents sees the same service.
The EDF is due by 30 January 2027. Our EDF due dates page lists every month's deadline.
Part 4 and who signs
Part 4 is the exporter's declaration. You strike out the alternatives that do not apply: I or We; buyer or third party; will be received or has been received; foreign exchange or Indian Rupees; goods or services. You also state the date by which the full value will be received, then date and sign.
For Tsubame, that means keeping "We", "buyer", "will be received", "foreign exchange" and "services", and giving a date within 9 months of the invoice dates. The signatory should be a director or officer the bank has on record as authorised. If your company has recently changed signatories, update the bank before you file, or the EDF may come back.
After filing with Mizuho
Mizuho must enter the EDF into EDPMS within 5 working days. Each invoice then stays open until it is recorded as realised.
All three of Tsubame's invoices are above ₹10 lakh at the illustrative rate, though TPC-1240 only just. For these, expect to provide the invoice, payment evidence such as a FIRA or bank advice, and matching instructions. Had TPC-1240 been slightly smaller, it could have been closed on a periodic declaration instead; our realisation declaration tool prepares one for invoices up to ₹10 lakh.
Check the purpose code on each inward remittance. Management consulting commonly sits under P1006 (business and management consultancy and public relations), but confirm with the bank before the credit is processed.

Frequently asked questions
Which Part 1 fields can a services exporter skip?
Fields for shipping bill (1.3), port of loading (1.14), port of discharge (1.18) and LEO date (1.20) are for goods and are marked not applicable. Part 2A, which covers goods, is also left blank.
What category of exporter should a consulting company select at 1.5?
A company that is not an SEZ unit, a 100% EOU or a warehouse exporter usually selects Others. If your company is in an SEZ, your EDF goes to the SEZ Development Commissioner instead of the bank.
Who can sign the EDF for a company banking with Mizuho?
A director or officer whom the bank recognises as an authorised signatory for the account. Confirm with your RM that the signatory on record is current before filing.
Where do I get the AD code for Mizuho?
Ask your relationship manager for the AD code of the India branch servicing your account. It is different from the IFSC and the SWIFT code.
Can I submit the EDF before my client pays?
Yes. The standard deadline is 30 days from the end of the invoice month, regardless of payment. For services other than software, you may alternatively submit on or before the date payment is received.
Bottom line
For Mizuho clients, Part 1 is largely fixed from month to month, so the real work is accurate invoice rows and a recognised signatory. Save time with the free Mizuho EDF generator, which carries your bank details forward each month.

"Strike out whichever is not applicable"
Part 4 offers pairs of alternatives — I/We, buyer/third party, will be received/has been received, foreign exchange/Indian Rupees. Your answers in step 5 decide which words stay; we draw the line through the rest, exactly as you would with a pen.
The layout follows the structure of RBI's Annex (Parts 1–5, fields 1.1–1.22). If your bank hands you its own printed version, use theirs. This tool is a document generator, not legal or tax advice — you remain the declarant.
EDF form FAQs
What is the EDF form?
The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).
When is the EDF due?
Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.
Can one EDF cover several clients?
Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.
Which parts does a service exporter fill?
Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.
Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?
On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.
By when must I get paid?
Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.
What is the AD code and where do I get it?
The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.
Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?
No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
