EDF for ICICI Bank: how to fill and submit it
If your foreign clients pay into an ICICI Bank current account, ICICI is your AD bank, and that is where your monthly Export Declaration Form goes. The EDF is the same RBI-prescribed form whichever bank you use; what differs is how ICICI Bank accepts it, so confirm the channel with your relationship manager or branch before your first filing. File within 30 days from the end of the invoice month.
Key takeaways
- For services exported from outside an SEZ, the EDF goes to the AD bank where your foreign money lands. If that is ICICI Bank, file there.
- Get the AD code for your ICICI branch in writing. It is not the IFSC and not the SWIFT code.
- ICICI Bank, like every AD bank, publishes its own policy on how it accepts EDFs. Ask your RM or branch which channel to use.
- Attach copies of the invoices on the form, and FIRA or bank advice for any already paid.
- The bank must enter your EDF into EDPMS within 5 working days. Follow up if you hear nothing.
Before you start: what you need from ICICI Bank
Three bank-side details go on the form, and all three should come from ICICI itself rather than a web search.
AD code (field 1.6). This identifies the branch that handles your export transactions. Ask your branch or RM for it, and save the reply. If the branch takes time, a short written request helps; our AD code request letter is ready to adapt.
AD bank name and address (field 1.10). Use the branch that services your current account for exports, exactly as the bank gives it to you.
Submission channel. Regulation 19 requires banks to publish their policies on how they accept EDFs. For ICICI Bank, that could mean the branch, an email address for trade documents, or a trade or corporate net-banking facility. We will not guess at menu paths or email IDs. Ask your RM, "How should I submit the monthly EDF for service exports, and what attachments do you need?" and follow that answer.
Filling the form for ICICI Bank
The form content does not change by bank. A services exporter typically fills:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| 1.1 Type of export | Services or Software |
| 1.4 Mode of delivery | Internet, for work delivered online |
| 1.5 Category of exporter | Usually "Others" or DTA, as applicable |
| 1.6 AD code | Your ICICI branch AD code |
| 1.7–1.9 | IEC (if any), GSTIN, PAN |
| 1.10 | ICICI Bank branch name and address |
| 1.12 Mode of realisation | Usually "Others" for direct transfers |
| 1.22 Total value | Sum of all Part 2B rows in INR, figures and words |
| Part 2B | One row per invoice dated in the month |
| Part 4 | Declaration, signed by an authorised person |
Our ICICI Bank EDF form pre-fills the bank name so you only enter your branch details, AD code and invoices. You get a clean printable form in a few minutes.
Worked example: a monthly filing with ICICI
Coralbay Media LLP, Mumbai, receives all foreign payments into its ICICI Bank current account. Suppose that in November 2026 it raises three invoices:
- Lumen Outdoor Inc, USA: USD 4,200, SAC 998361
- Drift & Co Ltd, UK: GBP 2,900, SAC 998361
- Halvorsen AS, Norway: EUR 3,600, SAC 998371
The process:
- 3 December: finance pulls the November export invoices and checks numbering.
- 4 December: fills the EDF using the ICICI version of the generator. Three rows in Part 2B, total about ₹10,15,000 in field 1.22.
- 5 December: a designated partner signs Part 4. The "will be received" alternative stays for the two unpaid invoices; Coralbay asks its RM how to handle a mix of paid and unpaid rows on one form.
- 5 December: submits by the channel the RM confirmed, with invoices attached and the FIRA for the one invoice already paid.
- 12 December: checks with the RM that the EDF has been taken on record.
Deadline for this form: 30 December 2026. Coralbay finishes with more than three weeks to spare.
What to attach
Banks vary, so treat this as a starting list and confirm with ICICI:
- The signed EDF (all pages)
- Copies of each invoice in Part 2B
- FIRA, FIRC or bank advice for invoices already paid
- A short EDF cover letter listing the month, number of invoices and total value
- Contract or engagement letter for a new client, if asked
For invoices up to ₹10 lakh, the bank may close the EDPMS entry on your declaration that the money has been realised. That declaration is separate from the EDF and can be given periodically. Ask ICICI whether it accepts quarterly declarations from you.
Getting FIRA from ICICI Bank
Each inward remittance should carry a purpose code, and you need proof of it for EDF closure, GST and sometimes income tax. Ask your RM how ICICI issues FIRA or FIRC for service export receipts and how quickly. Check each one for the correct purpose code, amount and remitter name. Our detailed walkthrough is in how to get FIRA or FIRC from ICICI Bank.
Following up
After submission:
- Note the date, channel and any acknowledgement or reference number.
- The bank has 5 working days to enter the EDF into EDPMS. If you have not had confirmation after a week, ask.
- If an incoming payment is held pending an EDF, send the EDF promptly with a short release request.
- Keep the EDF, invoices and FIRAs together in a monthly folder.
This guide is general information, not legal or tax advice, and it does not describe any internal ICICI Bank procedure. ICICI's own published process prevails.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find the AD code for my ICICI Bank branch?
Ask your branch or relationship manager for the AD code used for export transactions, and get it in writing. It is a separate identifier from the IFSC and the SWIFT code. Do not copy a code from another exporter or a website.
Can I email my EDF to ICICI Bank?
That depends on ICICI Bank's published EDF policy and what your branch or RM confirms. Some banks accept emailed EDFs, others prefer a portal or the branch. Ask before your first filing and use the channel they name.
Is the EDF format different for ICICI Bank?
No. The EDF is the form in the Annex to the RBI's 2026 export regulations, and it is the same for every bank. Only the bank details and submission channel change.
What if ICICI is not my only bank?
File each month's EDF with the bank that receives the foreign money for those invoices. If some clients pay into ICICI and others into another bank, you may file one EDF per bank for that month.
Do software exporters file with ICICI or STPI?
Software exporters outside an SEZ may file with the AD bank or STPI, since AD banks are now specified authorities on par with STPI. Most will find filing with their AD bank, ICICI here, simpler.
Bottom line
Filing your EDF with ICICI Bank is straightforward once you have the branch AD code and your RM has confirmed the channel. Build the form in minutes with the free ICICI Bank EDF form and file well before the 30-day deadline.

EDF form FAQs
What is the EDF form?
The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).
When is the EDF due?
Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.
Can one EDF cover several clients?
Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.
Which parts does a service exporter fill?
Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.
Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?
On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.
By when must I get paid?
Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.
What is the AD code and where do I get it?
The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.
Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?
No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
