How it works

File your Deutsche Bank EDF in five steps

Most exporters finish in under five minutes. Next month it's faster — your business and bank details are already filled.

  1. Enter your business once

Name, address, PAN, GSTIN, IE code and exporter category. It's remembered on this device — or in your free account.

  2. Add your bank

Pick your AD bank and branch and enter the AD code (ask your branch if you don't have it).

  3. List the month's invoices

One row per invoice in Part 2B. One EDF can cover every client you billed that month.

  4. Answer the declaration

I/We, who pays, received or to be received, currency. We strike out the words that don't apply for you.

  5. Download and submit

Download the PDF or Word file, sign it and submit it to your bank within 30 days of month end.

EDF for Deutsche Bank India: how to fill and submit it

If your export proceeds are credited to an account with Deutsche Bank in India, Deutsche Bank India is the AD bank that receives your monthly services EDF. Foreign banks in India often serve clients through relationship managers and central operations teams rather than walk-in branches, so the usual route is to ask your RM how the bank's published EDF policy (required under Regulation 19) works for your account. The form itself is the same national EDF, due within 30 days from the end of the month in which you raised your invoices.

Key takeaways

  • Deutsche Bank India is your AD bank for the invoices whose payments land in your account there.
  • Your relationship manager is the starting point — ask for the AD code and the accepted submission channel.
  • Group companies billing a foreign parent still file the EDF; intra-group invoices are exports too.
  • Large invoices above ₹10 lakh need payment evidence and matching instructions to close.
  • Keep the bank's inward remittance advice for every credit and check the purpose code.

Who typically banks with Deutsche Bank India

Without making claims about any bank's client base, it's fair to say that foreign banks in India are often used by Indian subsidiaries of multinational groups, global capability centres, and companies with large cross-border flows. That shapes the EDF questions they face: high-value invoices, cost-plus billing to a parent, and payments that sometimes come from a group treasury rather than the entity that received the service.

If that sounds like you, the guidance below is written with those cases in mind. If you're a smaller firm that happens to bank with Deutsche Bank India, the same steps apply — just with fewer invoices.

Step one: talk to your RM, not a general helpline

Each AD bank publishes its own policy on accepting EDFs. For a bank that serves you mainly through an RM, the fastest way to learn it is a short email to that person.

Ask:

Question What you're trying to learn
What AD code should we use in field 1.6 for our export transactions? The bank's identifier for your export business; not your IFSC or SWIFT code
Through which channel do you accept the monthly services EDF? Online banking, email to operations, or physical submission
Who in our organisation is authorised to sign it, based on your records? Avoids rejection for an unrecognised signatory
How will you acknowledge receipt? Your proof of timely filing
How should we send matching instructions for large invoices? Speeds up EDPMS closure

We don't describe Deutsche Bank India's online menus or operations email addresses here, because the bank sets and updates them. Your RM or the bank's own trade services information is the authority.

A worked example: a subsidiary billing its parent

Aurelius Systems India Pvt Ltd, a fictional Chennai subsidiary of a German engineering group, provides software and engineering support to its parent and to two group affiliates. It banks with Deutsche Bank India. In October 2026 it raised:

Invoice Date Recipient Country Amount Basis
ASI/26-27/0310 31-Oct-2026 Aurelius GmbH Germany EUR 3,85,000 Cost-plus monthly service fee
ASI/26-27/0311 31-Oct-2026 Aurelius Inc USA USD 92,000 Engineering support
ASI/26-27/0312 31-Oct-2026 Aurelius Polska Poland EUR 41,500 Software testing

All three go on one EDF for October, due by 30 November 2026. One EDF per month can cover multiple recipients in different countries.

Points Aurelius handles carefully:

  • Type of export (1.1). Two invoices are software-related and one is engineering support. Aurelius asks its RM whether the bank prefers separate forms for software and services or one combined form, since field 1.1 asks for a single type. Ask your bank the same question if your invoices mix types.
  • Related party. The recipients are group companies. That's normal; describe the service accurately in Part 2B and keep the intercompany agreement handy.
  • Third-party payment. If the German parent's treasury pays the Polish affiliate's invoice, that's a third-party payment. Fields 1.15–1.16 capture the third party and relationship. Tell the bank in advance.
  • Large values. Every invoice is well above ₹10 lakh, so each will need the invoice, payment evidence and matching instructions to close in EDPMS.

Our guide to EDF for Indian subsidiaries of foreign companies goes deeper into intra-group billing.

Filling the bank fields

Only a few fields depend on your bank:

  • 1.6 AD code: as confirmed by your RM.
  • 1.10 AD bank name and address: the bank's name exactly as it appears on your account documents, with the branch address the RM specifies.
  • 1.12 Mode of realisation: Others for wire transfers; L/C or BG only if those instruments are actually used.

Our Deutsche Bank EDF form pre-fills the bank name so you can focus on Part 2B.

Attachments and the acknowledgement

For a multinational subsidiary, a good EDF package is:

  1. Signed EDF.
  2. All invoices listed in Part 2B.
  3. A cover letter with a summary table (invoice, currency, amount, expected payment date). Our EDF cover letter has the structure.
  4. Intercompany agreement reference in the Part 2B contract column.
  5. Any document your RM asked for.

Get a written acknowledgement and record its reference. The bank should enter the EDF into EDPMS within 5 working days.

Closing invoices: payments, FIRA and matching

When payment arrives, the bank issues an inward remittance advice or FIRA. For high-value intercompany invoices, send matching instructions promptly, especially when one payment covers several invoices or arrives net of charges.

A simple matching note for Aurelius might say: "Credit of EUR 3,85,000 received 12-Dec-2026 is against invoice ASI/26-27/0310 dated 31-Oct-2026, listed in our October 2026 EDF acknowledged on 6-Nov-2026."

Watch the realisation clock too. Each invoice must be realised within 9 months of its invoice date, so ASI/26-27/0310 must be paid by 31 July 2027. If group cash management delays settlement, request an extension from the bank before the deadline.

This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Transfer-pricing and GST questions on intercompany billing belong with your CA.

Frequently asked questions

Do I file the EDF with Deutsche Bank India or with STPI?

If your proceeds land with Deutsche Bank India and you're outside an SEZ, file with the bank. For software exports you may choose the AD bank or STPI, since AD banks are now specified authorities on par with STPI. SEZ units file with the Development Commissioner.

Do intercompany invoices to a foreign parent need an EDF?

Yes. Services billed by an Indian entity to group companies abroad are exports of services and go on the monthly EDF like any other invoice. Describe the service accurately and keep the intercompany agreement on file.

How do I find the AD code for Deutsche Bank India?

Ask your relationship manager for the AD code used for your export transactions. It's different from the IFSC and the SWIFT code. Record it in your EDF register once confirmed.

What if the parent company pays on behalf of an affiliate?

That is a third-party payment. Fill the third-party fields (1.15–1.16) in the EDF and tell the bank in advance, with any supporting agreement, so it can match the credit to the right invoice.

What documents close a large invoice in EDPMS?

For invoices above ₹10 lakh, the bank generally needs the invoice, payment evidence such as a FIRA or bank advice, and matching instructions. Smaller invoices may be closed on your periodic ₹10 lakh declaration.

Bottom line

With Deutsche Bank India, your RM is the shortest route to the right channel and AD code. Settle those once, then file one clean EDF a month and send matching instructions as payments arrive. Start with the pre-filled Deutsche Bank EDF form and check upcoming deadlines on our EDF due date calculator.

Questions

EDF form FAQs

What is the EDF form?

The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).

When is the EDF due?

Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.

Can one EDF cover several clients?

Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.

Which parts does a service exporter fill?

Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.

Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?

On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.

By when must I get paid?

Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.

What is the AD code and where do I get it?

The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.

Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?

No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
