Frequently asked questions

Which regime is better for me?

The new regime is better for most people without large deductions. The old regime can win if your 80C, 80D, HRA and home loan deductions are large. The calculator compares both.

What is the standard deduction?

₹75,000 under the new regime and ₹50,000 under the old regime, for salaried individuals and pensioners.

Does this include surcharge?

Yes, at the basic rates for incomes above ₹50 lakh. It does not apply marginal relief on surcharge, special-rate income such as capital gains, or senior-citizen exemptions under the old regime. Confirm with a CA for those.

Results are estimates for planning, not financial, tax or investment advice. Rates and rules change — confirm with your bank, the scheme's official notice or a CA. Last reviewed 13 October 2026.
