EDF for JPMorgan Chase Bank (India): how to fill and submit it
A capability centre that bills its overseas parent every month, and banks with JPMorgan Chase Bank in India, files its Export Declaration Form with JPMorgan as its AD bank. The monthly service-fee invoice, plus any true-up or one-off invoice raised in the same month, goes on a single EDF due within 30 days from the end of that month. JPMorgan publishes its own process for accepting EDFs, and with a corporate and institutional bank your relationship manager is the person to confirm it.
Key takeaways
- JPMorgan Chase Bank in India is your AD bank when your export proceeds are credited to your account there.
- The AD code in field 1.6 must be the India branch's code, not the IFSC (starting with CHAS) or the SWIFT code.
- Cost-plus service fees, year-end true-ups and recharges are all export invoices and belong on the EDF for the month they are raised.
- If a group treasury entity pays instead of the invoiced company, plan the third-party fields and matching in advance.
- Track the 9-month realisation window for every invoice, including true-ups.
Who files EDFs with JPMorgan in India
JPMorgan Chase Bank operates in India as a foreign bank focused on corporate and institutional clients. In the export context that usually means Indian subsidiaries of foreign groups, global capability centres (GCCs) and larger service exporters with treasury functions. These businesses tend to raise a small number of large invoices, often to related parties, and receive money through global cash management structures.
That profile changes where the effort goes. The form is short; the work lies in getting intra-group documentation, invoice timing and remittance allocation right.
The AD code and the account behind it
Field 1.6 asks for the AD code, which identifies the bank branch for export transactions. Large groups often hold accounts with the same bank in many countries, and Indian finance teams sometimes receive a list of identifiers from group treasury. Only the AD code of the India branch servicing your Indian entity's account belongs on the EDF. The IFSC beginning with CHAS is for domestic transfers, and the SWIFT code is for routing foreign payments.
Ask your RM for the code in writing, and confirm it again if your account is restructured or moved to a different servicing branch.
How JPMorgan accepts the EDF
Regulation 19 of the 2026 export regulations requires each AD bank to publish its policy on accepting EDFs. We do not describe JPMorgan's channels, portals or timelines, because only the bank can confirm them for your account. Use your first conversation with the RM to settle the channel, the format (signed scan, original or digital signature), the attachments wanted, and who in your company is recognised as the authorised signatory for Part 4.
A short covering letter helps when your EDF carries large related-party invoices. It can list the invoices, the intra-group agreement they relate to and the expected remittance dates. Our EDF cover letter gives you a format to adapt.
A quarter of cost-plus invoicing
Orion Ridge Technology Centre India Pvt Ltd provides software engineering to its US parent on a cost-plus basis and banks with JPMorgan in India. It invoices at the end of each month and raises a true-up in December when the year's costs are finalised.
| Invoice | Invoice date | Amount (USD) | Goes on EDF for | EDF due by | Realise by |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ORT/26/10 | 28 Oct 2026 | 240,000 | October 2026 | 30 Nov 2026 | 28 Jul 2027 |
| ORT/26/11 | 27 Nov 2026 | 245,000 | November 2026 | 30 Dec 2026 | 27 Aug 2027 |
| ORT/26/12 | 29 Dec 2026 | 251,000 | December 2026 | 30 Jan 2027 | 29 Sep 2027 |
| ORT/26/12-TU | 29 Dec 2026 | 18,500 | December 2026 | 30 Jan 2027 | 29 Sep 2027 |
The December EDF has two rows in Part 2B: the regular fee and the true-up. Each row carries the contract number and date of the intercompany services agreement. At an illustrative rate of ₹84.50 per USD, the December total in field 1.22 would be ₹2,27,72,750 (USD 269,500).
If a true-up runs the other way, reducing the amount the parent owes, ask the bank and your CA how to reflect it before you raise a credit note. Do not simply net it against the next month's invoice on the EDF.
Because Orion Ridge exports software, it can file with its AD bank or with STPI. Since 1 October 2026, AD banks are specified authorities on par with STPI, and STPI certification is no longer mandatory. It chooses one route and sticks to it.
Matching payments from a group treasury
JPMorgan must enter the EDF into EDPMS within 5 working days. Every Orion Ridge invoice is above ₹10 lakh, so the bank will need the invoice, payment evidence such as a FIRA or bank advice, and matching instructions to close each entry.
Two patterns cause most of the friction for GCCs:
- A different payer. The invoice is addressed to the parent, but a regional treasury company remits the money. Fields 1.15 and 1.16 of the EDF cover third-party involvement and the relationship. Agree with the bank how to show this before the first payment.
- Bulk settlements. Treasury pays two or three months in one transfer, or pays a round figure. Send the bank a written allocation of the remittance across the invoice numbers it settles.
Our glossary entry on EDPMS explains how open entries are tracked and closed.
Keeping treasury inside the deadlines
Each invoice must be realised within 9 months from its date. Intra-group settlement calendars are set abroad and do not always respect Indian deadlines, so send group treasury a short schedule each quarter showing invoice dates and realisation deadlines. If a payment will be late, ask the bank for an extension with reasons before the deadline. The filing dates for every month are on our EDF due dates page.
This is general information, not legal or tax advice. The GST treatment of intra-group services, including whether the conditions for export of services are met, is a separate question for your CA.
Frequently asked questions
Does a GCC billing its own parent need to file an EDF?
Yes. Services supplied by an Indian company to a foreign group entity are generally exports of services, so the invoices go on the monthly EDF like any other. Make sure the contract details in Part 2B match the intercompany agreement.
Where is the JPMorgan AD code for my account?
Ask your relationship manager for the AD code of the India branch servicing your account and keep the reply on file. It is not the IFSC or the SWIFT code.
Does a year-end true-up need its own EDF?
No. It is another invoice and goes as an extra row on the EDF for the month in which it is raised. If the true-up reduces the amount due, check the treatment with your bank and CA first.
Can our parent pay several invoices in one transfer?
It can, but the bank will need to know which invoices the remittance settles. Send a written allocation with invoice numbers and amounts so each EDPMS entry can be closed.
How do I submit the EDF to JPMorgan?
Through the channel the bank specifies under its published EDF policy. Your relationship manager can confirm the channel, format and attachments for your account.
Bottom line
For a JPMorgan client, the EDF is a monthly snapshot of your intercompany billing; get the AD code, the payer details and the allocation right and it closes cleanly. Build each month's form, true-ups included, with our free JPMorgan EDF generator.

EDF form FAQs
What is the EDF form?
The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).
When is the EDF due?
Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.
Can one EDF cover several clients?
Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.
Which parts does a service exporter fill?
Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.
Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?
On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.
By when must I get paid?
Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.
What is the AD code and where do I get it?
The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.
Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?
No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
