Most exporters finish in under five minutes. Next month it's faster — your business and bank details are already filled.

Name, address, PAN, GSTIN, IE code and exporter category. It's remembered on this device — or in your free account.

  2. Add your bank

Pick your AD bank and branch and enter the AD code (ask your branch if you don't have it).

  3. List the month's invoices

One row per invoice in Part 2B. One EDF can cover every client you billed that month.

  4. Answer the declaration

I/We, who pays, received or to be received, currency. We strike out the words that don't apply for you.

  5. Download and submit

Download the PDF or Word file, sign it and submit it to your bank within 30 days of month end.

EDF for Central Bank of India: how to fill and submit it

Service exporters who receive foreign payments into a Central Bank of India account file their monthly EDF with Central Bank as their AD bank. The form is the same Annex EDF every bank uses; your job is to find out which Central Bank branch handles your export transactions, get its AD code and follow the submission route the bank publishes. In a large public sector network, that first question about the branch saves more time than anything else.

Key takeaways

  • Central Bank of India receives your EDF if it is the bank where your foreign money lands.
  • Ask whether your home branch handles foreign exchange work itself or routes it through another branch. The AD code you need belongs to the branch handling your exports.
  • The submission channel (branch counter, a bank-provided email, or an online trade facility) comes from the bank's published policy. Ask; do not assume.
  • File one EDF per month within 30 days from the month-end, listing every invoice in Part 2B.
  • Collect a FIRA or advice for every inward credit and keep the bank's acknowledgement.

Start with the branch question

In many banks with large branch networks, not every branch handles foreign exchange paperwork directly. Some branches pass export documents to a designated forex or trade branch behind the scenes. Whether that applies to your Central Bank account is something only the bank can tell you.

So the first visit, call or email to your branch manager should ask:

  1. Which branch handles export transactions for my account?
  2. What is that branch's AD code?
  3. Where and how should I submit the monthly EDF?
  4. Who is my point of contact if a foreign remittance is held?

Write down the name and designation of whoever answers. Our AD code request letter helps if you want the answer on bank letterhead for your records.

The month at a glance

Here is how one month runs for a fictional exporter, Narmada Ledger Services, a partnership firm in Indore providing bookkeeping to clients in Australia and the UK. Its foreign receipts land in a Central Bank of India current account.

Date Event What Narmada Ledger does
1–31 Dec 2026 Raises 4 export invoices Records each in its sales register with SAC 998222
9 Dec 2026 AUD 3,400 received from a Perth client Requests FIRA from the branch
2 Jan 2027 Month closed Lists December invoices for Part 2B
8 Jan 2027 EDF prepared Uses the Central Bank EDF generator, checks totals
12 Jan 2027 EDF submitted Through the channel confirmed by the branch, with covering letter
12–19 Jan 2027 Bank processes EDF Bank enters it in EDPMS within 5 working days
30 Jan 2027 Due date Already filed, with acknowledgement on file

December's EDF is due by 30 January 2027. Filing a couple of weeks early leaves room for the inevitable question from the branch.

Filling the form for Central Bank

The Central Bank of India EDF generator follows the Annex. The fields that change from bank to bank are only 1.6 (AD code) and 1.10 (AD bank name and address). Everything else depends on your business:

  • 1.1 Type of export: Services, or Software for software exporters.
  • 1.4 Mode of delivery: Internet, for services delivered online.
  • 1.5 Category: Others for a normal business outside an SEZ or EOU.
  • 1.12 Mode of realisation: Others, unless you have a letter of credit or bank guarantee.
  • Part 2B: a row per invoice. Narmada Ledger's four December invoices go in four rows, each with the client's name and address, country, invoice number and date, currency, amount, NRV, a short description, SAC code, engagement letter reference and remarks.
  • 1.22: the total in rupees in figures and words, here ₹6,84,250, "Rupees Six Lakh Eighty-Four Thousand Two Hundred Fifty only".

Leave Part 2A and Part 3 blank. Strike out the inapplicable alternatives in Part 4 and sign as an authorised signatory.

What to hand over

Public sector branches often appreciate a tidy bundle. Confirm with your branch, but expect some combination of:

Document Usually needed? Notes
Signed EDF Yes One per month
Covering letter Often Month, invoice count, total; see our EDF cover letter
Invoice copies On request Keep PDFs ready
FIRA or bank advice for receipts On request For amounts already credited
Engagement letters or contracts Occasionally Especially for a new client
Authority letter for the person submitting If someone else visits the branch Use our authority letter

Ask for a stamped or emailed acknowledgement every time. If the branch cannot give one on the spot, send a short email the same day confirming what you submitted.

FIRA and closing the loop

For every foreign credit, request a FIRA or payment advice from Central Bank showing the remitter, amount, currency and purpose code. If the purpose code is wrong (say a bookkeeping receipt tagged with a software code), ask for correction promptly rather than at year-end.

Realisation follows its own clock: the full value of each invoice within 9 months from the invoice date, or 12 months for rupee invoices. For invoices up to ₹10 lakh, the bank may close the EDPMS entry on your declaration that the money has arrived; you can give that declaration periodically, for example each quarter. Larger invoices need the invoice, payment evidence and matching instructions.

When things stall

If the branch says it has not seen your EDF, send the acknowledgement or email trail and ask for the person handling export documentation. If a foreign remittance is held pending the EDF, file the EDF for the invoice month and reference the held credit. Our guide on why a foreign payment may be on hold lists other common causes.

This is general information, not legal or tax advice. Central Bank of India's own published process takes precedence.

Frequently asked questions

Does Central Bank of India have its own EDF format?

No. All AD banks use the EDF in the Annex to the FEMA (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. The bank may ask for a covering letter or supporting documents, but the form itself is standard.

How do I find the AD code for my Central Bank of India branch?

Ask your branch which branch handles export transactions for your account and request that branch's AD code in writing. The AD code is not the same as the IFSC or SWIFT code.

Can I email my EDF to Central Bank of India?

Only if the bank's published EDF policy or your branch confirms an email channel for your account. Submission routes differ from bank to bank, so ask your branch which method it accepts.

What is the deadline to submit the EDF to Central Bank of India?

Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoices were raised. December 2026 invoices are due by 30 January 2027. Services other than software may alternatively be declared on or before the date payment is received.

What happens after I submit the EDF?

The bank enters it into EDPMS within 5 working days. The entry stays open until realisation is matched through FIRAs or bank advices, or, for invoices up to ₹10 lakh, closed on your realisation declaration.

Bottom line

With Central Bank of India, clarity about which branch handles your exports makes everything else straightforward. Settle that once, then file on a fixed day each month. Prepare your next declaration with the free Central Bank of India EDF form.

Questions

EDF form FAQs

What is the EDF form?

The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).

When is the EDF due?

Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.

Can one EDF cover several clients?

Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.

Which parts does a service exporter fill?

Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.

Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?

On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.

By when must I get paid?

Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.

What is the AD code and where do I get it?

The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.

Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?

No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
