How it works

File your Bandhan EDF in five steps

Most exporters finish in under five minutes. Next month it's faster — your business and bank details are already filled.

  1. Enter your business once

Name, address, PAN, GSTIN, IE code and exporter category. It's remembered on this device — or in your free account.

  2. Add your bank

Pick your AD bank and branch and enter the AD code (ask your branch if you don't have it).

  3. List the month's invoices

One row per invoice in Part 2B. One EDF can cover every client you billed that month.

  4. Answer the declaration

I/We, who pays, received or to be received, currency. We strike out the words that don't apply for you.

  5. Download and submit

Download the PDF or Word file, sign it and submit it to your bank within 30 days of month end.

Bandhan Bank guide · updated 10 Oct 2026

EDF for Bandhan Bank: how to fill and submit it

If your foreign payments arrive in a Bandhan Bank account, that is the bank your monthly Export Declaration Form normally goes to. Before your first filing, confirm two things with Bandhan Bank: that your account and branch are set up to handle export receipts, and the exact channel the bank uses to accept EDFs. The form itself is the standard one from the RBI's 2026 export regulations, due within 30 days from the end of the invoice month.

Key takeaways

  • Your AD bank is normally the bank where the foreign money lands. If clients pay into Bandhan Bank, file your EDF there.
  • Ask the branch whether it handles foreign exchange transactions for your account, and which AD code applies.
  • Bandhan Bank publishes its own EDF acceptance policy, as every AD bank must. Your branch or RM will tell you how to submit.
  • One EDF per month covers all your service invoices from that month.
  • Keep a FIRA or bank advice for every receipt, with the purpose code checked.

Step zero: is Bandhan Bank set up as your AD bank?

Many exporters open an account for everyday banking first and only later start receiving foreign money into it. Before you rely on that account for exports, check that it can receive inward remittances for export of services and that the branch can process the related paperwork.

You do not need to guess how Bandhan Bank organises its foreign exchange business internally. Ask the branch:

  1. Can this account receive foreign remittances for service exports?
  2. Which branch and AD code handle export transactions for my account?
  3. How should I submit the monthly EDF, and what should I attach?
  4. How will I receive FIRA or bank advice for each inward payment?

Write down the answers and the name of the person who gave them. If you need the AD code formally, our AD code request letter does the job.

Who needs to file in the first place

The 2026 regulations apply to exporters of services, and SOFTEX has been folded into the same EDF. Proprietorships, partnership firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.

Individuals are a separate case. At RBI's policy press conference on 7 October 2026, the Governor said individuals providing services abroad, such as tutoring or small software work, are not required to report, and RBI said it would issue FAQs. The text of the regulations has not changed yet. If you bank with Bandhan in your personal name as a freelancer, check with the branch until the FAQs are out. Our explainer on who must file the EDF covers the differences.

What goes on the form

Part What you fill Bandhan-specific?
Part 1 (1.1–1.22) Type of export, mode of delivery, category, AD code, IEC, GSTIN, PAN, bank, your details, realisation mode, total value Only 1.6 (AD code) and 1.10 (bank name and address)
Part 2A Leave blank for services No
Part 2B One row per invoice: client, country, invoice no. and date, currency, amount, NRV, description, SAC, contract, remarks No
Part 3 Post/courier exports, usually N/A No
Part 4 Declaration, with alternatives struck out, signed No

So the bank-specific work is small. The Bandhan Bank EDF form on our site pre-fills the bank name, and you add your branch, AD code and invoices.

Worked example: a small firm's first Bandhan filing

Sundarban Translations, a proprietorship in Kolkata run by its owner with two staff, translates and localises documents for publishers in Europe and North America. Foreign payments come into its Bandhan Bank current account.

Suppose that in October 2026 it raises four invoices:

  • EUR 1,150 to a Dutch publisher
  • EUR 860 to a Belgian e-learning firm
  • USD 2,400 to a US non-profit
  • CAD 1,700 to a Canadian agency

Total value: about ₹5,00,000.

Because it is a proprietorship rather than an individual working on personal contracts, the owner treats the EDF as applicable. Her steps:

  1. Mid-October: visit the branch, confirm the account can receive export remittances, and get the AD code and the submission channel in writing.
  2. 5 November: fill one EDF covering all four invoices, with four Part 2B rows and mode of delivery "Internet".
  3. 6 November: sign Part 4 as proprietor, keeping "will be received" for unpaid invoices and naming the date by which full value is expected.
  4. 6 November: submit with invoice copies and a short covering note, well before the 30 November deadline.
  5. Ongoing: since each invoice is under ₹10 lakh, ask whether the bank will accept a quarterly declaration of realisation to close the EDPMS entries, rather than individual matching.

Attachments and records

Start with this list and adjust to what Bandhan Bank asks for:

  • signed EDF;
  • invoice copies for each Part 2B row;
  • FIRA or bank advice for any invoice already paid;
  • a covering letter (the EDF cover letter template is quick to adapt);
  • contract or purchase order for a new client, if requested.

At your end, keep a simple register: invoice number, date, client, amount, EDF month, date submitted, payment date, FIRA number and EDPMS status. Ten minutes a month here saves hours at year end.

Purpose codes and FIRA

Each inward remittance should carry a purpose code that matches what you sold. Translation may fall under a business services code; a software job may be P0802 or P0807. These are examples only. Confirm the code with the bank before your first payment, and check each FIRA when it arrives. If a code is wrong, ask for a correction in writing promptly.

This guide is general information, not legal or tax advice, and it does not describe internal Bandhan Bank procedures. Bandhan Bank's published policy and your branch's instructions take priority.

Frequently asked questions

Can every Bandhan Bank branch accept my EDF?

Do not assume so. Ask your branch whether it handles export transactions for your account or works with another designated branch, and which AD code applies. Then submit through the channel it names.

Is there a special EDF format for Bandhan Bank?

No. The EDF is the form in the Annex to the RBI's 2026 export regulations, the same at every AD bank. Only the bank name, branch, AD code and submission channel are specific to Bandhan Bank.

I am a freelancer with a personal Bandhan account. Do I need to file?

RBI said on 7 October 2026 that individuals providing services abroad are not required to report and that FAQs would follow, but the regulation text has not changed yet. Check with your branch until the FAQs are issued. If you trade as a proprietorship or firm, assume you are covered.

What if my client pays into a different bank?

File the EDF with the bank that receives the foreign money for those invoices. If some clients pay into Bandhan Bank and others elsewhere, you may need one EDF per bank for the month.

How quickly will Bandhan Bank record my EDF?

The regulations require the AD bank to enter the EDF into EDPMS within 5 working days of receiving it. If you have not had confirmation after a week, follow up with the branch.

Bottom line

For Bandhan Bank customers, the setup questions matter more than the form: confirm your branch handles export receipts, get the AD code and agree the channel. Then build your monthly form with the free Bandhan Bank EDF form.

Questions

EDF form FAQs

What is the EDF form?

The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).

When is the EDF due?

Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.

Can one EDF cover several clients?

Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.

Which parts does a service exporter fill?

Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.

Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?

On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.

By when must I get paid?

Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.

What is the AD code and where do I get it?

The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.

Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?

No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
